How often should I get my technology team together to address education, allow knowledge sharing and general best practice discussion?
The Team Doc Says…
I would think, particularly with a technology company, that you would want to provide a continuous learning environment to your staff. With technology forging ahead at breakneck speed, you can’t afford to sit still.
Rather than focusing on when and how often you would get the entire team together, target your question at “what and why.”
- What is the purpose of the team meeting?
- Why is there a need to get all team members together?
You could figure this out by first determining the outcome of the seminar. Identify the goal.
- What do you want these team members to walk away with?
- What are the driving forces that make this seminar important?
Take the time to define these up front and you’ll have a much more productive use of your team members’ time and effort which will translate to bottom line results. And if you want to formally track your progress and team results, you might benefit from a learning management system that can help you identify and track how everyone is doing.
