How To Deal With Non-Contributing Team Members

My question is how do you handle team members who are inactive or uncooperative participants?

The Team Doc Says…

Totally ignore them. :-)

Your energy is better spent focusing on productive members of your team.

Work to get this team member removed from your team as soon as possible. If a team member isn’t adding any value, that will drag down the entire team causing it to be less productive and impacting morale in a big way.

If you’ve taken steps to hold this team member accountable for their actions and that hasn’t worked, you don’t really have much choice but to remove the team member.

Your best bet is to follow the procedures and policies within your organization to move this team member to a different area (or out the door) where they will be more engaged and can contribute some value.
