Keeping Team Members Engaged When New Members Added

Right now our company is short staffed. We have hired new people but it will take time to train. How can I keep the existing staff positive and motivated while we are rebuilding the team?

The Team Doc says…

Your best bet is to tap into what motivates those team members individually and involve them in the process of bringing new members up to speed. A shadowing or mentoring program may be the answer. It will help your senior employees “show off their stuff” and provide opportunities for information sharing and integration of the new team members.

Meet with each of the senior team members and find out what makes them feel special. Take a look at “Team Motivation More Than Money” for more information and some key questions to ask.

And by all means, make sure you are communicating with all team members on a regular basis. Read more about this at “Communication Key to Team Integration.”
