Should You Let A Meeting Fail?

Suppose you are invited to attend a meeting as a participant. What can you do to ensure the meeting is effective? Why is it important to promote effective meeting behavior even when you’re not in charge of the meeting?

Meetings which are ineffective cause frustration, and turn people off. Many meetings don’t accomplish anything. And, a lot of people don’t know what it takes to have an effective meeting.

Effective meetings are the responsibility of all participants. Once you’ve learned the guidelines for effective meetings and how to apply them, the advantages of well-planned and conducted meetings are obvious. However, you may find yourself attending a meeting where the individual responsible does not have the benefit of this knowledge. Then it’s your responsibility to step up to the plate and help out.
