Team Member Show and Tell Builds Team

In an effort to remind employees that we do understand that they have a life outside of work, I’ve been tossing around the idea of having a “Bring your favorite hobby to work day.” Kind of like a little trade show in the lunchroom. People could show samples of their knitting, painting, fly tying, baking. Silly or not?

The Team Doc Says…

It is silly, but may help your workforce understand the people side of each team member. It sounds like a good way for them to connect with each other on a different level that they may never discover by just working on the same team.

It depends on your workforce whether this would work or not. Have you tested the idea out by casually mentioning it to anyone? And make sure you get the buy in of the leadership group.

You also might want to really think about what you are really trying to accomplish before you begin. And make sure you consider what could be the pros and cons.

Best regards,
