What Is Team Vision?

What is “Team Vision?”

The Team Doc Says…

Team vision is the optimal place you want your team to be. It is what you strive for — and will achieve — if your team mission and goals are realized.

One of the easiest ways to determine what your team vision should be is to first document where you are right now. This is called the “as is” version of your team. Creating a visual picture of what that looks like is one of the best ways to understand where your team stands. Once you’ve completed that version, create a “to be” version that shows what your ideal vision for your team is.

A great way to do this is to draw your team as a water going vessel including the surrounding environment. First do the “as is” then do the “to be.” Compare the two and make sure your team goals will help you get where you are going. Turn the visual of your “to be” into a vision statement for your team.

    Hi Doc.
I’m Hanis from Malaysia. I would like to ask. What is the difference between vision team and team vision? Is that the team vision as you stated above has the same concept with the traditional team?
    Thank you.

  2. Yes Hanis. A team vision is the same concept for a traditional team as with a project team. It’s a state of where you want to be.
